More Fundraising Ideas
There are lots of ways to generate extra cash during your Breakfast with Benefits. Below are some tips to help get your fundraising efforts underway.
Please note there are also some theme specific fundraising tips on each of the breakfast theme pages. We hope these help!
Fundraising with Food
Encourage your guests to pick up the check – ask them to make a donation to the retail value of their normal daily breakfast. You could start with a coffee and muffin option for $5 and move up to the “big breakfast” plate donation of $20.
Organise a street breakfast party, where each participating house offers a breakfast option. Sell breakfast coupons for guests and neighbours to redeem a breakfast meal of their choice.
Battle of the breakfast BBQ – a great one for family and friends to do! Appoint your head BBQ chefs and challenge them to cook up a storm. Ask you guests to bid for the best BBQ breakfast plates. Make sure the chefs wear their pink aprons!
Mum’s Pink Ribbon Breakfast – ask guests to donate $1 and get the kids to sell:
- Pink frozen yogurt
- Pink fruit smoothies
- Fruit cups
- Bacon & egg muffins
- Tomato and cheese muffins
- Pink topped pikelets
Get Active with your fundraising
Bra Tossing Competition – see who can hurl their old bras the furthest and charge a small entry fee to have a go.
Barefoot Bowls Brekky – get a group together and host a breakfast at your local bowling club. A great way to host a "breakfast on the run".
Sales and Raffles
Balloon raffle: Before blowing up balloons insert prizes on slips of paper (or raffle tickets) into them. Guests can purchase a balloon upon entry. It means your event decorations and a fundraising are rolled into one!
Sell Pink Ribbon Merchandise to raise money at your event
Raffle off the plate of the day!
Make a Recipe Book - Put together your own special recipe book (either paper or on a CD) full of family recipes to sell to your guests.
Book sale - Ask your guests to bring along the books and magazines they’ll never read again. Then they can sell them to each other and donate the takings to the NBCF! Take the left over books to your local charity shop.
"Rent a recipe" from a friend, family member or work colleague for a while. We all know the most valuable ones tend to come from family members. Your rental of the recipe could not only help you provide a great breakfast but also help fund a cure for breast cancer!
Movie Themed Fundraising
Bridget Jones: Make it a love match morning and invite all your single friends around and charge them all a small fee to potentially meet the love of their lives!
Mamma Mia: Everybody loves ABBA, so pop on Mamma Mia and encourage some spontaneous karaoke and collect donations to sing.
The Women: Bond with all your best mates and get everyone to bake some breakfast treats to sell.
Fundraising at Work
If holding a breakfast in a large workplace, suggest your sales or marketing team undertakes a sales challenge of breakfast products, with highest achieving team being served breakfast by the CEO/GM or senior management team etc
Suggest people can build their own breakfast buffet – buy vouchers for certain breakfast items. Booklets start at $X – this is a popular way to raise funds at an expo
Take the fundraising out of the office and invite your clients or supplier networks to support your breakfast with benefits!
Hold a piggyback breakfast off an existing event. It could be an awards event for an industry, a seminar or conference planned where one of the functions could adopt a breakfast with benefits theme. Ask the delegates to donate on top of their registration fee.
Other ideas
If doing a public event why not ask a local photographer to donate his/her time for a fun photo booth? Charge a small fee for their breakfast with benefits portrait.
Alternatively, see if an artist or a cartoonist might come along to your event and offer to cartoon your guests for a small fee in support of breast cancer research.
Build a donation tree – ask your friends, family, work colleagues or leisure groups and your event guests to purchase leaves in support of breast cancer research. Display the donation tree at your event
Hold a clothes auction – on average we only wear 60% of the clothes in our wardrobe. Why not host a mini auction and clear some space in the old cupboard.
Dress up!: Theme your brekkie with a small entry fee and award a prize for best dressed or better still make it a pyjama party, lounge about and don’t worry about chores for the day. Pop on a rom-com and enjoy the morning with your friends!
Your support will raise vital funds for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer.
