Meet the people who breakfast their way to benefit breast cancer research:

Melbourne’s Hostess with the Mostess

Di Fincher is the architect of the official Melbourne Pink Ribbon Breakfast. She has grown the event over six years to 1,000 guests, raising a total of $224,000 through engagement with local councils and councillors, businesses and individuals. Di has achieved this with a team of volunteers that sources sponsorship, prizes and entertainment. To raise the initial deposits for venue, staging equipment and other costs, she holds mini fundraising events during the year.

Four years ago, with the success of her first two breakfasts, Di stepped up to form and chair the Victorian Events Committee. Supported by a team of seven women, she has been an enthusiastic, passionate and professional leader and has led the committee in organising public relations networking cocktail parties, movie nights, trivia events and fashion parades, all of which have their own sponsors and guest lists.

Di recently trained with the NBCF Speakers’ Bureau and will use this to further encourage support. She has worked tirelessly to support breast cancer research, with the aim of helping NBCF find a cure for breast cancer.

The 2011 Melbourne Pink Ribbon Breakfast will be held on Thursday 20th October, commencing at 7am at Flemington Racecourse. In 2010, the NBCF Victorian Events Committee raised over $64,000 for breast cancer research. It is a wonderful event with inspiring speakers, entertainment, a live auction and of course, a sumptuous breakfast and plenty of coffee!
